Clasamentul suprem al cântecelor lui Jason Isbell
Este asta country-music? Rock? Folk? Vreun hibrid cu dublă cratimă absurdă? Într-adevăr, muzica lui Jason Isbell sfidează adesea genurile. Versurile acestui tip sunt ca niște romane de trei minute și jumătate sau filme indie. S-a vorbit mult despre cele două albume magistrale ale lui Isbell de după reabilitare, „Southeastern” din 2013 și „Something More Than Free” din 2015. Iar strălucirea lor cu ochii limpezi merită aprecieri (inclusiv cele două premii Grammy). Dar există pietre prețioase pe toate cele cinci LP-uri de studio solo ale lui Isbell, precum și pe muzica pe care a făcut-o cu fosta sa trupă, Drive-By Truckers. Având în vedere că Isbell a început recent să lucreze la cel de-al șaselea album de studio, ne-am gândit că ar fi interesant să clasificăm melodiile existente în catalogul său. (Piesele live și coverurile au fost totuși omise.) Fanii hardcore ai lui Isbell sunt bineveniți să nu fie de acord cu clasamentul meu și asta este absolut în regulă – multe dintre melodiile emblematice ale lui Isbell își impun propriile superfane.
